We will be closed from May 16-May 21st, starting back again with zazen on Tuesday evening.  We are excited to attend our friends' wedding in Austin... To get in the spirit, here's a lovely photo from Taiwan's first same-sex Buddhist wedding!  We hope you all have an amazing weekend.  Hopefully you can attend some of the events with HH Dalai Lama.  We wish we could be here for them, but are glad that some of you can hear him speak.  Many bows, m + k.

Starting this week, evening zazen will begin at 5:40 rather than 6:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Also the schedule for monthly half day sittings will be expanded a bit:

This will be the schedule on the first Sunday of every month. That means there's will be no zazen instruction on first Sundays.

Zendo Closed March 28-April 7.

Hello, Mid City Zen will be closed from March 28th - April 7. Koji is going to Texas to sit a retreat, meet with teachers, and to meet up with Michaela and bring her back to us! Hallelujah! Enjoy the break!

Visiting Teacher Kosho McCall

Kosho McCall of the Austin Zen Center will be visiting Mid City Zen next week. 

During his stay he will offer two Dharma talks:

      Thursday, March 14th at 7pm -and-

Sunday, March 17th at 10:30am

The usual zazen schedule will precede both talks.

Amended Mardi Gras Schedule

Hello Mid City Zenners! Due to some inexperience on my part, I've overcommited to keeping the zendo open during Carnival. There has been very limited attendance in recent weeks, so lets just have a nice thorough vacation and resume our schedule starting on Sunday, February 17th. Happy Reveling to Everyone!

Mardi Gras Schedule

Mid City Zen will maintain the regular schedule during Carnival season with the following exceptions:

We will be closed -

• Sunday January 20th, the morning after Krewe du Vieux.
• Thursday Night February 7th, the night of Krewe of Muses.
• Friday Morning February 8th.
• Monday Morning February 11th.
• Tuesday Night February 12th, Mardi Gras Day.

We will be open as scheduled all other days, including a half day sit on Superbowl Sunday, February 3rd.

This Saturday (December 8th) is Buddha's Enlightenment Day! We will be having some periods of meditation, a dharma talk, followed by a shared vegetarian meal (if its nice we can have a picnic). If you would like to bring food, please do.
